About Us

Hi! We are Chris Roby and John Mataruse, and together we form The Care Whisperer. Between us, we have over 14 years experience working directly with older people in purpose built, high end care homes, which it has been a great pleasure every step of the way.
It's a Vocation
Our experience working directly with older people, and their carers and families, has led us to want to provide further support to the industry which can sometimes seem very daunting. Care homes are not often services people wish to talk about, and families commonly report that broaching the subject with their loved one has been emotionally difficult for them. As a result, the reality is that many people first come to us in a crisis and with little know how about the care industry, or about what options might be available to them.
ESSENTIAL RESOURCES Why we got started
The Care Whisperer started three years ago as a blog, with a vision to educate people about care in a way no one else is currently doing online. Our very first post is called 'This is New to Me' because this is what hear almost everyday; it can seem like a very alien place to look for care for a mum, dad, husband, wife, it comes with high stress and no shortage of anxiety.
We are proud to be in a position to help people who are in this challenging situation, and have developed this further by partnering with other businesses to provide holistic, educational content, in written, video, and graphic formats.
EDUCATION & PRODUCTS Learn, and shop at the same time!
Although our shop is new, our vision is to work with other businesses to provide products that are linked to the educational material we produce. Our journey will enable you to learn more about the care industry, whilst shopping for quality products and services that will help you in your own care journey
DIRECTOR & WRITER Chris Roby
For the past decade I have been working with older people in care homes, it has been an enlightening experience full of challenges but also great happiness. I believe older people still have a lot to offer and I often form great relationships with them and their families. In my time, I have moved over 550 people into care homes, and spoken with over 3500 families who are making enquiries, giving me a deep knowledge of the situations families are in, and the expertise to be able to assess and offer solutions to them.
To fulfil my role successfully, I have also built a wide network of other professionals who I have learnt a lot from and often use to support the residents through their specialisms. Some of these professionals are also guest writers for our blog, again providing useful information about topics such as financing care, or how to deal with the grief whilst being on a dementia journey with a loved one.
It is safe to say therefore that caring for people, including dementia care and nursing care, is of great importance to me as a person. This is why the products we chose to supply are of very high quality, so that they provide the required benefits to the person and their family.
Outside of all this, I enjoy spending time with my family, going for walks, exercising, and writing.

I worked in the banking sector for close to 20 years before joining the care industry. I immediately fell in love with care and ended up working as a manager in the industry. No single day is the same in
care and despite the challenges, the joy of making a positive difference in an elderly person’s life motivates me to show up every day.
I am particularly interested in the value that can be delivered in care if we focus on delivering products and solutions that make life easier and more fulfilling to the elderly community. To me, the search for solutions that will improve care and make life more enjoyable to the elderly is a mission I enjoy and take seriously.
I am a family man and outside work I enjoy travelling, meeting new people and reading books.

Educating people about care is something we enjoy and take seriously - check out our most recent blog posts below!
