About Us

Hi! We are Chris Roby and John Mataruse, and together we form The Care Whisperer. Between us, we have over 14 years experience working directly with older people in purpose built, high end care homes, which it has been a great pleasure every step of the way.

GUIDANCE Elder Care Choices

Our experience working directly with older people, and their carers and families, has led us to want to provide further support to the industry which can sometimes seem very daunting. Care homes are not often services people wish to talk about, and families commonly report that broaching the subject with their loved one has been emotionally difficult for them. As a result, the reality is that many people first come to us in a crisis and with little know how about the care industry, or about what options might be available to them.

ESSENTIAL RESOURCES Care Guidance

It is for this reason that The Care Whisperer was born, the aim was to provide honest, educational content via blogs, infographics and videos, that gave families clear and concise information when they needed it most. To this end, the blog was very successful, but it has also been used by families conducting research on the industry, often after a loved one has been diagnosed with a condition such as dementia.

EDUCATION & PRODUCTS Empowering Care

Educating people about the care industry is something we are very passionate about and will continue doing, but we have now expanded our offering to include a shopping experience with carefully chosen products that can bring benefit not only to the person, but also their family.

DIRECTOR & WRITER Chris Roby

For the past decade I have been working with older people in care homes, it has been an enlightening experience full of challenges but also great happiness. I believe older people still have a lot to offer and I often form great relationships with them and their families. In my time, I have moved over 550 people into care homes, and spoken with over 3000 families who are making enquiries, giving me a deep knowledge of the situations families are in, and the expertise to be able to assess and offer solutions to them.
To fulfil my role successfully, I have also built a wide network of other professionals who I have learnt a lot from and often use to support the residents through their specialisms. Some of these professionals are also guest writers for our blog, again providing useful information about topics such as financing care, or how to deal with the grief whilst being on a dementia journey with a loved one.
It is safe to say therefore that caring for people, including dementia care and nursing care, is of great importance to me as a person. This is why the products we chose to supply are of very high quality, so that they provide the required benefits to the person and their family.

Outside of all this, I enjoy spending time with my family, going for walks, exercising, and writing.
