Introduction
This infographic has been designed to show some of the key differences between residential homes and nursing homes. For more detailed post on this topic, please see the written version here. Please note the FNC contribution for FY24 / 25 is £235.88, which is an increase from £209.19 when the infographic was designed.
As the graphic reflects, some providers are opting to open residential homes rather than nursing homes. This could cause the industry some future issues, with the supply of nursing beds becoming scarce having an impact on families who are in need of nursing care.
The demand for beds in the industry still outweighs the supply, and as the graphic shows, residential beds are still more readily available than nursing beds.
What does this mean? Only time will tell, but in the short term the focus needs to be on recruitment so that nursing homes can continue to prove useful investments to those who build care homes.
